Author: Lee Shawn

Not too long ago, I came across this cool product called Zeo. After reading and scanning the Zeo site, I would like to give you a quick summary of this product. If you do find it as interesting and promising as I do, please head over to their site to learn more.

Here are the quick things you need to know about this product. The Zeo:

  1. Is a cool device that is well designed and documented
  2. Tracks your sleep – both quantity and quality – using a unique sensor similar to the ones in HRMs (personal heart rate monitors)
  3. Targets the root of the problem – your habits – and how to change them and not just the symptoms
  4. Includes a personal coach program that gives you tips and tricks!
  5. Also includes the natural wake option for better timing of your alarms
  6. And comes with free shipping and a lifetime coaching package
  7. Most importantly, though, this product comes with 30 nights risk free in home trial!

Here is a more in depth summary that will save you going through the entire site:

The Zeo’s goal is to improve your life by using scientific methods and technological innovation to affect the quality of your sleep. This is what I liked about the Zeo promise - its main focus is the quality of your sleep. It even has a term called “ZQ”, which relates to the sleep quality.

You use the Zeo by putting on a headband which has small sensor and transmitter before you go to sleep. From the testimonials I read, I learned that a lot of people were initially concerned about using the product. All of them claim, though, that within a day or two they got used to it. The sensor measures and transmits your sleep patterns and logs them to your bedside Zeo. When you wake up, you get to see your sleep score (the “ZQ”) and how well you slept – including the length and (equally important) the type of sleep (light, deep and REM). I hope I will have time soon to write a post about different types of sleep, which is a very important and interesting topic.

Once the data is ready, you can upload it, using a simple USB interface, to your computer. This is where your sleep log and statistics are kept. This is also where your data is submitted so you can get personal coaching. Since I haven’t tried it personally (yet!) I can’t say how good the coaching is but the testimonials praise it and mention it as a key to improvement.

Over all, people claim to get longer sleep and better quality of sleep. Some of them say that it is a self fulfilling process: once your start to sleep better, you are more productive, feel better and have more energy. This further assists you in properly managing your sleep and maintaining a healthy sleep routine.

sleep remedyI am sure some of you have had back problems. I had severe back problems myself about a decade ago. I tried almost everything, including meds and chiropractors. I was even considering a surgery. Then, following a bit of a good advice, I started a special type of exercising. What was special about it is that it was done on a regular basis, and not as a one time, emergency treatment. This type of exercising is all about changing habits and not treating symptoms. Guess what – it worked. Yes, it took a few months but once things began to get better it was well worth it. The funny thing is that suddenly people started asking me if I had grown taller! What I am trying to say is that I always prefer habit-changing treatment over treatment that just addresses the symptoms. I think the Zeo adopts this approach.

The last part is the price. The Zeo doesn’t come cheap. The basic package is $249, and the one with the life-time coaching is $349 (which used to be $399). But I think that in the long term, you might find it the cheapest solution. I mean, just think about all the lost hours, lost productivity and lost opportunities due to low quality sleep. Think about all the fights and arguments you could have avoided. What about the money spent on meds and nutrition supplements you could have saved? Try to write down all the money you have spent by now or you intend to spend – if you are in the market for meds or other food supplements - and see what it comes to over the next 12 months. You know what? I will take it even one step further. How much do you spend on your diet? Do not forget to include pills, programs, gym, personal trainers and the like. Did you know that better sleep habits have a terrific effect on your metabolism?

So, whatever it is you like about the opportunity of the Zeo, go now to Zeo’s website to learn more. It has plenty of material for you, including reviews from USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Popular Science and more. Remember, you have a 30 night, risk free, in home trial!

* If you tried the Zeo please let us know! Add you comments below. I am very curious to know how you felt about it and what difference it made for you.
